An funny thing happens when you start writing about people you know: you start worrying about how to reduce them to characters (or, more likely, caricatures) without offending. I’m not sure this is 100% possible.
Just this morning a friend texted me to say how he thinks he should be portrayed in the comic. I like his idea and agee that it would be both funny and appropriate, but I don’t know for sure that I will use his idea. See, if I were to go with his suggestion than I would have absolutely no way of claiming that my character was not based on him. Not a good thing if he ever dislikes something that I write about his character.
Then there is the issue of the wife. She will almost certainly end up in my writing at some point, and I certainly don’t want to come up with a portrayal she won’t like.
*sigh*
However this may be, I will be back to drawing/writing soon. Need to get some work done for the actual job this weekend and continue the slow unpacking process.
